Maintaining good dental hygiene is essential for oral health. Here are some tips to boost your dental care:
1. Buy an electric toothbrush
Purchasing one with a two-minute timer and a pressure sensor would work well. The timer will ensure you brush for the right amount of time and the sensor ensures the right amount of pressure on your gums.
2. Brushing routine
Preferably start with the same point whenever you brush, followed by both sides – upper and lower, finishing with the middle teeth. It’s a good habit to start with the outer surface, then the top or chewing portion, followed by the inner surfaces of the teeth. Aiming the bristles at a 45-degree angle to your gums ensures the gaps between the teeth are cleaned.
This is an important factor in cleaning in between the teeth. When done right, it will remove not only the bits of stuck food but also the plaque.
4. Limit Snacking
Follow your snack consumption with a drink of water to rinse your mouth.
5. Drink Plenty of Water
Intermittent sips of water keep you hydrated, boosting saliva, which protects the teeth.
