Is There a Difference Between N95 and KN95 Masks?

First, we’ll cover how these two types of masks are similar. This section will be short, because there’s really only one distinct similarity. For both masks to be considered wearable, they need to filter out 95% of particles. This includes airborne sneeze particles and other particulate matter.

Now, let’s talk about how these two types of masks differ. First, there is a fit test requirement for KN95 masks. This requirement is not present for N95 masks. While this doesn’t mean that fit tests aren’t done before wearing, it means that N95 masks simply aren’t required to undergo them. N95 masks do have stricter breathability requirements than KN95 masks do, though.
